Melissa Dexter is a former professional ballroom dancer specialize in International Style Latin. Melissa is a four time Italian Professional Latin Champion, Italian Showdance Latin Champions, British Open Finalist, "World Professional Masters" Vice Champion, World Professional Latin Finalist. Currently Melissa is a USA Dance - Vice President Professional Dance, USA Dance and (WDSF) Adjudicator, Owner of Dancessense Studios in Carlsbad, CA.

Overview

As a child, Melissa’s dyslexia meant she struggled in the classroom; yet “like a separate gift” she excelled at dancing. Recognized early for her elegant lines and exceptional technique, Melissa rose to the top of the dance world as three-time United States Latin American Champion, Grand Slam Champion, three-time European and World Finalist, British Open Professional Latin Finalist and received the Feather Award, the dancing world’s Oscar two times.

Attending the Blackpool Dance Festival, Giacomo Steccaglia was “mesmerized by a gorgeous girl in white from America, wishing with all his heart to dance with somebody like her." That beautiful talent was the one and only Melissa Dexter. After marrying Melissa, they turned Professional, and together, the newlywed couple won four Italian Professional Championships, became the Italian Showdance Latin Champions, the 2-time Vice South American Showdance Champions, as well as Imperial, Ohio Star Ball Championships Professional Latin Champion, All England, and Universal Champions.

Giacomo and Melissa also placed second in the "World Professional Masters Championship" and were finalists in the European and World Latin American Dance Championships.

Today, her extensive resume includes film, TV, and stage choreographer as well as world-class adjudicator, coach, and lecturer.
