Overview
Petr Horáček is a renowned choreographer, WDSF Licensed Adjudicator, and President of the Slovak DanceSport Federation. As a choreographer, he has worked in the first three seasons of the TV series "Let's Dance", the Slovak version of "Dancing with the Stars", during 2006, 2008, and 2009. In 2010, he was a supervisor for the show for Season 4, and later, in 2017, he was also part of Season 6 as a judge.Dance Education & Competitive Career
From 1976 to 1983, Petr attended the Arts School of Žilina, Slovakia, where he studied under the branches of classical and modern dance.From 1985 to 1996 he was a DanceSport competitor in various different dance clubs including Kontakt Žilina, Slovan Bratislava, and Duo Istrochem Bratislava.
Petr was a long-time successful Slovak representative in various World and International Competitions in the disciplines of Argentine Tango and Salsa. Throughout his competitive career, he danced with partners Danka Kukučková and Michaela Šimková-Podmanická. The dancer was honored to represent Slovakia on 3 continents: Europe, America, and Asia.
Some of Petr's top results dancing the Argentine Tango include becoming a 4-time finalist of the World Championship in 1998 - Annecy (France), 2000 - Miami (USA), 2002 - Miami (USA), and 2004 - Dunaújváros (Hungary). He was also the European Argentine Tango Champion in 2001, the European Vice-Champion in 2000, and a 3-time European Championship Finalist in 1997, 1999, and 2003. At the German Open Championships (GOC), Petr took 1st Place in 2001. At the World Cup, he was the Argentine Tango Champion in 2000, and 3rd in 2001.
In Salsa, Horacek took the World Cup title in 2001 in Hong Kong.
A Life Centered Around Dance
Since 1990, Petr has worked in the field of dance management. He began as a secretary for the Dance Club Slovan Bratislava. From 1993 to 2003, Petr was the manager of the Duo Istrochem Bratislava Dance Club. Since 1999, he also became the director of Choreocentrum Bratislava, where he trained wheelchair dancers. From 2011 to 2016, Petr was the National Slovak Wheelchair DanceSport Team coach.Since 2011, Petr was a member of the Presidium of the Slovak DanceSport Federation as a Foreign Affairs and Professional Division director. He was also the General Secretary of the Professional Slovak Dance Association (STZ) from 1999 to 2005.
As of 2015, Petr is the current President of the Slovak DanceSport Federation.
Renowned Choreographer
Petr has choreographed over 300 compositions presented in 11 regions of the world. He has won more than 50 Slovak and 21 Czech Republic Choreography Champion Titles in Creative Formation & Seque/Freestyle. Horacek has also acted as a choreographer for various TV projects including: "Svadba Snov", "SuperStar Search Slovakia", "Bailando", "Miliónový tanec", and "Let's Dance".Dance Studio Director & Coach
Petr Horacek is a highly sought after coach who is a featured presenter at many top DanceSport training camps throughout Europe. He is now the main trainer as well as the current director of the Uni-Dance Bratislava Dance Club, since the year 2004. Since 2011, he is also the CEO of the Universal House of Dance (Uni-Dance Bratislava).Teacher Certifications
Since 2001, Petr has been a certified dance instructor and holds a Diploma of Dance Teacher, as examined by the Slovak Dance Teacher Association.Since 2003, Petr also holds a Diploma of Trainer of DanceSport, as examined by the Slovak DanceSport Federation.
