Overview

Daniel Dilley, along with partner Yuehwern Yih, are former Professional American Rhythm competitors. They are also the head coaches of the Purdue Latin & Ballroom Dance Team which has about 125 members each college semester, requiring competitive coaching in all levels from Newcomer to Champ.

When the team was invited to compete on season 10 of Dancing with the Stars, Daniel and Yuehwern coached the dancers to a 1st round victory, and choreographed the outstanding Cha Cha Cha for the finale.

Daniel is a Purdue Computer Science alumni and Yuehwern is the faculty adviser from the Industrial Engineering department. Before Ballroom, Yuehwern was a principal company member of the Lafayette Ballet Company and Daniel was dabbling in hip hop and break-dance and competing as a stage magician. They met on the Purdue Dance Team in 1998, and after a few years, their partnership turned to marriage. They have been dancing together since.

In 2009, the couple turned Professional.

Daniel and Yuehwern have each been dancing Ballroom well over 15 years. As head coaches, besides teaching lessons, their primary job is to establish and maintain relationships with top Professional instructors, encouraging them to visit the team.

Daniel and Yuehwern are both certified adjudicators by the North American Dance Teachers Association (NADTA), and certified Scrutineers with the National Dance Council of America (NDCA).

Daniel also co-organizes the annual Purdue Ballroom Classic Competition, which has attracted more than 400 Collegiate Ballroom Dance competitors each year in the Midwest area for the last 18 years.
